August Adventures with Select Properties
With nine offices in and around the Metro St. Louis area, Select Properties makes community a priority for our leadership, employees, and customers. Luckily for those of us who live in St. Louis, there’s always an adventure to experience with friends nearby. Don’t know where to start? Here are a few August happenings that we recommend for you and your family.
Garden Party Lights
Throughout the summer, the Missouri Botanical Gardens is hosting Garden Party Lights every Thursday to Sunday evening starting at 6 p.m. Join them for amazing sunsets in their Biergarten before dark when a light show will take place. Thought this kind of event only took place in December? Think again!
Meet Me at the Muny
If you haven’t had an opportunity to make it to the Muny this summer, then here’s your last chance! Starting August 5, you can catch a showing of Roald Dahl’s Matilda. A young girl named Matilda faces the world with her extraordinary powers in this story. It even has a bit of hometown flavor coming from a world St. Louis’s own Mary Engelbreit imagined.
Science at Sunset
As one of the only free nonprofit science museums in the country, the St. Louis Science Center is an attraction you don’t want to miss out on. This is especially true when they host events like Science at Sunset. All ages are welcome and adults over 21 can enjoy $5 happy hour food and drink specials from 5-8:30 PM every Thursday night through August. Check out details on Pompeii: The Exhibition while you’re in the neighborhood.
Baseball Games
There’s currently a race for first place in the world of baseball. St. Louis and Chicago are neck and neck when it comes to their overall records. Who will be the victor? You could find out by purchasing tickets for the next home games. Other teams visiting will include Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Denver, and Cincinnati.
County Concert Series
August is definitely the month to buy tickets for all kinds of concerts. Check out the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre for shows from Wiz Khalifa & French Montana, Peter Frampton, Florida Georgia Line, and more! The Chesterfield Amphitheatre will be featuring The Big Rigs and Backstoppalooza, for free, along with selling tickets to Gary Allan at the end of the month.
Race for the Rivers & Festival
Want to beat the heat? Get ready for this eleventh annual Missouri River paddling event on August 24 where you can join for fun or to crush the competition. Taking place in St. Charles, you can choose between a kayak or canoe race for either 20 or 40 miles. Don’t forget to stick around for The Festival for delicious food, dance-worthy music, and much more.
Festival of Nations
Tower Grove Park will once again be hosting the Festival of Nations August 24-25 with more than 40 food booths, non-stop dance and music, arts and crafts, and an international bazaar with unique gifts from around the world. Admission is free and a shuttle service will provide complimentary rides on designated routes during operating hours.
